Abhayam Passenger Safety App
ABHAYAM ACADEMY is a premier institute for the preparation of students for various competitive examinations. It is headed by a group of expert teachers and counselors, and has produced many successful students over the years. The institute provides coaching and guidance to students in their career and personal life, and assists them in achieving their dreams.
VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has launched the 'Abhayam' project, a one-of-its-kind initiative to ensure safety for women and children travelling in autos and taxis. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the application from his camp office at Tadepalli on Monday.
Under the Abhayam project, IoT devices will be installed in local vehicles to track their movement and prevent any occurrence of crime. The device also has a panic button which can be used in case of an emergency. If the passenger presses this button, an intimation will reach the command control centre and officials from the nearest police station will be assigned to the vehicle. The engine will come to a halt, and an alarm will be raised on the app, making it easy for the police to track down the vehicle.
Those who travel in autos or cabs need to install the Abhayam mobile application on their mobile phones and scan the QR code affixed to the vehicle before boarding it. This will send the driver's photo and vehicle details to their mobile phone. They can also track the vehicle through GPS by sending the relevant vehicle number from their mobile apps. The Abhayam device was first set up in 1,000 autos in Visakhapatnam as a pilot project and will be introduced in Vijayawada and Tirupati soon.
